Edgerton United Methodist Church

“This is a day of new beginnings ...
for by the life and death of Jesus,
God’s mighty Spirit, now as then,
can make for us a world of difference,
as faith and hope are born again.”
(United Methodist Hymnal #383)
Dear Friends,
It’s the beginning of a new year ... new possibilities ... new opportunities ... resolutions and promises ...
hopes and dreams! Our minds and hearts turn to these notions whenever the calendar turns from
December to January, and the years of our days increase by one. But with God, every day is a new beginning ... every moment offers a new opportunity ... every possibility becomes at least something we can imagine, even if not something we can see how to do right now.
We have just walked through the wonder of Christmas, and heard again the words of the angel “For nothing will be impossible with God.” I believe that! I believe we can make resolutions to live in ways that are more healthful and sane ... and then actually keep them. I believe we can offer grace and love to the world ... and make a difference! I believe we can share the gifts of our faith – hope, peace, joy, and love ... and change the world!
I also believe this works better if we do it together. So as we move into this new year, and begin to think about how we can be the church in our community, and the world, in an even more faithful way, I invite you to join us on the journey. Join us regularly in worship, to offer our praise and thanksgiving, and be renewed and encouraged. Join us in study and conversation, to grow our faith together. Join us in mission and service, to share Christ with the world. Join us in the exploration of where God is calling us next. And let’s make a difference ... together!!
grace and peace,
Pastor Susan
