Why do we observe Lent?
According to a story in Guideposts Arthur Gordon visited a kindergarten class where the teacher frequently reminded misbehaving children to stop being a WAM. The kids straightened up as soon as their teacher pointed out they were being a WAM.
The story of Easter in the Bible is focused on Jesus’s sacrifice. He presenting himself as an atonement for sin. His actions restored the relationship between the Creator and his creation, human kind.
The reason we observe Lent is to remind us of what Jesus did for us. Lent is to move us from “What about Me?” to “What about Jesus?” Remember Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
May God bless you this Lenten season and may you be a blessing to others.
