Today we mourn the loss of someone who has made a big impact in the lives of those he’s come in contact with. To say that Zach wore a lot of hats is putting it mildly (and literally). He has been
called husband, son, brother, father, stepfather, friend, and so much more. He was also known as performer, and was an extremely gifted actor and musician. Together, he and his wife Jodi have blessed
our congregation as our worship leaders- Zach playing piano so beautifully to accompany Jodi’s beautiful voice. He was also the perfect choice to act when we needed a character, whether it be a
Christmas play, a VBS storyteller, or the wacky wannabe scientist named Ian in last year’s VBS. These are just a few examples, but what it amounts to is this- the loss of an amazing man who was loved
by so many, and there’s no possible way to fill his shoes (or hat).
Zach had his struggles and saw loss and pain in his life, but you could always count on him to make you laugh. I don’t think it was possible to spend time around Zach without smiling or laughing- it was just his personality. It didn’t matter what kind of day you were having or how angry or upset you were, you could count on Zach to make you smile. Zach’s loss will be felt for so long by his family, his friends, and by his church family here at Edgerton United Methodist Church. As Christians, we are told that we aren’t supposed to think of this as loss, and that death is but the beginning of a new life. But for those left behind, those words may offer comfort, but don’t take away the pain of the loss they feel.
Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with their incredible loss.
